From 18th August to 12th October, the sculpture garden called “NEIGHBOURS” provides an overview of the fascinating practices of twenty national and international contemporary visual artists who enter into a dialogue with the garden, Rubens and the castle’s rich history. Like Rubens, the artists are not afraid to experiment. Visit the sculpture garden if you want to discover and learn new things, and be amazed by a variety of forms and colours.

NEIGHBOURS is curated by Manor Grunewald (b. 1985), a Belgian visual artist currently living and working in Ghent. Grunewald considers himself primarily a painter, though he also works with sculptures, installations and graphics. His oeuvre analyses the development of the pictorial in our everyday environment.

The scenography, in turn, is by Bram Vanderbeke (b. 1991), a Ghent-based artist and designer. Bram creates ‘Architectural Objects’: monumental designs with a distinct materiality and aesthetics. He explores and transforms the interactions between an object, its architectural environment and its user, and lets himself be challenged by the object’s raw materiality, form and function.
